From Teaching to Donating: Carol Levin

Carol LevinA simple phone call brought Food & Friends into Carol Levin's orbit.

"I was working at the Arlington Food Assistance Center and called to get a donation, and by the time, I hung up the phone, I'd volunteered to be a cooking class chef," Carol recalls.

For the next several years, Carol, a former professional chef, would teach cooking classes for clients of the organization.

"I just have always enjoyed working with all the people, staff, board members and clients," Carol says. "I liked the mission and knew it was important."

While Carol hasn't led a class for nearly a year, she's still been involved with the organization by making regular donations. She took her commitment to Food & Friends a step further recently as she began making arrangements for her estate.

She knew Food & Friends would benefit from a future gift, and would use it to continue making a difference in the communities it serves.

"I just feel like it's important once I'm gone to leave money to help them meet their mission," Carol says. "I don't imagine there will ever not be a need."

Carol hopes that her gift will help Food & Friends continue to feed people in times of need.

"Unfortunately, the need of the community will probably always be there, and Food & Friends has proved itself to be a constant source of assistance," she says.
